NAME: Levi (Glen) Baskerville
CANON: Pandora Hearts
CANON POINT: Post-death
CHARACTER AGE: 29 (physically) 49+ (actually)
HISTORY: Here!
PERSONALITY:
Little is actually known about the man called Levi, but plenty is known about him during his time as Glen Baskerville. The venerable Baskervilles have been around for ages, as has "Glen", who is actually several different people who fulfill the role. It is Glen who keeps the "Abyss" of Pandora Hearts more or less in check. Every generation there is one Glen vessel born and one "Child of Misfortune" who must be cast into the Abyss (aka killed) in order to keep that balance. Levi was born into the more fortunate of the two roles.

At first glance he seems to be a charming man, and a friendly or gentle one. He is never shown getting angry or raising his voice. He is graceful and well-mannered as one expects the head of a noble household to be. Being as he is modeled after the Cheshire Cat of Wonderland fame, however, you can easily guess that there is far more to him than meets the eye and it doesn't always make sense. Many parts of him contradict themselves. For example, while he is friendly, he is also somewhat sadistic. He greets Jack Vessalius well when he intrudes on Baskerville properly but also merrily suggests he tell his guards to kill him without so much as batting an eye. He can be kind, protecting a very young Lacie from her unfortunate existence by allowing her to live in the palace but informing her with a smile on his face that when her brother becomes Glen she will die.

While not quite a mastermind in the deliberate way that someone like Vincent Nightray is, Levi is a thinker. He was always dutiful and patient when it came to his role. He did everything expected of him, kept track of the long years that were necessary to complete the rituals and customs that Glen Baskerville always takes part in. That's not to say, however, that he completely agreed with his role or what it represented. He wanted to find a way to change everything, regardless of the cost, and he was always more or less thinking about this underneath his calm, personable exterior. Eventually he came up with the idea of somehow creating a vessel out of the Abyss itself, and he became a father in the process. That's usually a big deal to most but he didn't even blink at the idea. In fact he never even really interacted with his daughters in the brief time they existed before his death. It was just business. Levi's intuition was correct and his experiment a success even though he did not even live long enough to see it end (he gets to float around in the current Glen's head so death isn't all too bad for Glens. Maybe). So Levi is calculating and intelligent. Perhaps dangerously so, especially since he is extremely subtle about it.

He more or less gets along with everyone around him and has no trouble with varying personaities. Again, Levi is calm and adaptive while the world goes on around him. He finds amusement in observing interesting people, and gives suggestive nudges to those who will either further his own goals or otherwise continue to entertain him somehow. His advice, like his Cheshire counterpart, is not always wholesome but it is often too vague to catch that before it's too late.

Levi is accepting of his own demise and even occasionally speaks lightly of the way his body literally begins to fall apart. There's nothing he can scheme up to save himself in time, so he never fought it. As long as things are more or less going his way, he is content. He doesn't seem to care about anything else. Lacie is called his "lover" but he never showed her any extra affection than he showed anybody else (although he may have spent more of his time speaking with her than with others, save for Oswald- the next Glen). When telling Jack of his own daughters born from his "experiment", he shows no attachment to them. The role of Glen doesn't allow for close relationships really, and Levi certainly didn't make any moves to change that. He did not seem lonely or lost for it either. As Glen he was always surrounded by people and that seemed to be enough.

His existence was, and is, just as he likes it. Like the Cheshire cat, he fades in and out of the scene as he pleases, watching the way the world turns while occasionally spinning words to give it a little push in another direction. Levi was not a good man, and he is not necessarily a bad one either. He just is.

ABILITIES: As Glen, Levi could control five different "chains", which are basically contracted monster/demon fighters. Normally you are only able to legally contract with one chain (and illegally contract with others but that will kill you eventually), but Glen is special as he is able to make direct contact with "The Core of the Abyss", though that will have huge terrible consequences and is a last resort (The Core of the Abyss is a bit complex and isn't relevant to this really so I will omit explanation if that's alright). The chains were Raven, Dodo, Gryphon, and Jabberwock, but he no longer has them.

As for other abilities, Levi was once a renowned author who went by the pen name of "Evil B" (idk either) and he wrote a few popular novels. He is also very talented at Archery. He has above average intelligence and is a schemer and a manipulator.

SINS & VIRTUES: Diligence, Patience, and Lust would be the top three sins and virtues I would choose for Levi (in that order), with Pride coming after.

He is meticulous as Glen and basically his entire life is a ritual that takes place over many long years. He even tells the matriarchish old woman of the Baskervilles to wait and allow Lacie to live for a while because it will be a very long time before she has to die. He bides his time and uses it well. And, dutiful as he is with this, he has his own thoughts and beliefs that he adheres to and explores with steadfastily and without ever giving up even after he's already dead. He continues to work toward his goal constantly, manipulating future Glen's with his ideas and beliefs. Lust is a sin of his because of his relationship with Lacie. There is nothing pure or good about it, it's sex for the sake of science to put it bluntly. And pride because he is Glen which sort of automatically includes pride because it is a great responsibility and honor. He also waves his position in other's faces, even if only joking or teasing them.
